What you need to know
Medical coverage provides you and your family the health coverage you need, when you need it. It’s administered by Maxicare, giving you a wide network of medical providers to choose from. You’re immediately eligible for the plan upon your hire date.
Eligibility
All PayPal employees ages 18–65 and their eligible family members can enroll in the medical plan.
Married/single parent with a partner:
- Spouse/partner up to age 65
- Children up to age 23
- Parents up to age 65
Single parent:
- Children up to age 23
- Parents up to age 65
Single:
- Domestic partner (including same-sex or common-law partner) up to age 65
- Parents up to age 65
You have 20 days to enroll a newborn baby, new spouse following the effective date of the life event.
What’s covered
The medical plan provides coverage to you and your eligible family members up to annual benefit limit of PHP 600,000 per member per year.
Preventive care:
- Annual physical exam
- Health education counseling
- Monitoring of health problems
- Family planning counseling
- Wellness programs
Outpatient care:
- Consultations
- Laboratories, X-ray, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures
- Pre- and postnatal care
- Eye, ear, nose, and throat treatment
- Allergy testing
- Minor injuries, including dressings, casts, and sutures
- Minor surgery
- Eye laser therapy
- Cauterization of warts and skin lesions
- Blood product transfusions and intravenous fluids
- Speech therapy
- Tuberculin test
- Sclerotherapy
- Mental health consultations
Inpatient care:
- Room and board
- Use of operating room, ICU, and recovery room
- Professional fees for physicians
- Nursing services and standard admission kit
- Medication, blood transfusions, dressings, casts, sutures, and any other items required in your medical care
- Gender reassignment surgery
- Mental health treatment
Emergency care:
- Physician services
- Emergency room fees
- Medication
- Oxygen, intravenous fluids, whole blood, and human blood products
- Laboratory, X-ray, and diagnostic procedures
- All charges related to emergency medical management
An emergency is a sudden and unexpected onset of a health issue that causes severe pain and discomfort, potentially resulting in immediate disability and death. Examples include coma, stroke, convulsions, heart attack, massive bleeding, and severe injuries.
Ambulance service:
- Affiliated-to-affiliated service covered up to the maximum benefit limit
- Non-affiliated-to-affiliated service covered up to PHP 2,500 per incident
Maternity care:
- Normal delivery, maximum benefit of PHP 40,000
- Cesarean delivery, maximum benefit of PHP 60,000
- Home delivery, maximum benefit of PHP 10,000
- Miscarriage/abortion, maximum benefit of PHP 30,000
Filing a claim
When filing a claim for reimbursement, complete a claims form, and submit the required documents to Maxicare.

Appropriate use of company benefits
Misuse of company programs, including the submission of false bills, is a serious matter that can have significant legal and financial implications for both the individual involved and the company. The misuse of company programs is prohibited by the PayPal Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and can lead to disciplinary actions, including termination of employment.
